Like Jared said, a lot of bait shops down here sell minners by the pound. There's no question on how many you get. Over on Reelfoot, a half pound of smalls have as many minners as 3/4 to a pound of larges

If you ask for 3 dozen and get 36 then you got what you ask for.
Now funny story , Paradise corner store , I go in ask for 4 dozen lady says someone will be right out, ok I go to the tank with my bucket ,and what looked to be a young teenage girl shortly arrived. She takes larger net gets big scoop , then with a smaller net starts counting 1.2.3.4..... about half way through she looses count ,takes all minnows out of bucket, starts over , maybe 15 minutes later she gets her count .I say thank you and go to truck. Debbie ask wth took so long I couldn't help but laugh and after telling her we laughed about it every time we went in the bucket!
12 is a dozen....corect?
JR I bet you were helping her count is the reason it took so long!
I've not used Everharts much, not because of count but because they open later than I usually am going by there. Bucksaw's counts seemed generous to me last year. Tightwad C Store has seemed a little skimpy a couple of times this spring (although I am sure they probably did give me what I paid for, just not much extra). I agree with TwanGang's comment about Dicks Bait and Tackle in St Joe - back when I used to fish Mozingo frequently (before I started storing my boat at Truman) I used to stop there and it was a good place.
Is there a bait store by sparrowfoot ramp? Haven't been that direction yet.
pay for a dozen get a dozen anything extra is a gift to say thank you
Well I will comment since dicks has been mentioned. When I buy minnows that is where I get them as I live there. When camping at Mozingo I would buy minnows at big birds befor he sold out and then from the very nice lady that bought the store from him. They both counted out 12 minnows. Fair enough but they didn't stay in business at that store very long. Don't know if that was a problem for them or not, but every one you talked to complained. Sometimes they were so small I would use two at a time
There are several creeks in every area where a person can drop off a baited trap or use a net and have plenty of minnows for everyone in the boat all for free, just a little effort is all it takes. These creeks have provided me with most of my crappie and catfish bait all of last year. FREEEEEEEEE. Thats my two cents
Also the bait in the creeks are stronger, and livelier than any of the bait store bait. These things pull bobbers around like you have a bigger fish on the hook.
Iam really going to be attacked here but, come on guys lets be serious for a minute. 10,000 to 40,000 boat. Poles 2-8,$100-$400. truck to pull said boat up to $35,000. equip. $1.00 to unkown amount. Now everyone is talking about about a minnow cost a few cents and people trying to making a living. It just boggles my mind
