Went to mark twain last weekend. Caught three nice fish on the banks Friday night late after getting into camp. Scrapped together 14 Saturday. Didn't fish all that hard... Had my 4 & 6 year olds with me some of the time. They each got to catch their first crappies!!!! Could of easily limited if I fished harder. All fish kept were healthy females 11" or bigger, except two 9" the kids caught and wanted to keep & one lone male about 10". Also had one fish over 13" and saw another13.5" at the cleaning station.
Great size to the fish this year.
caught some fish on the banks (2'-3'), most fish were caught drifting in 10-15' of water fishing 6' deep. Also caught a few fish ten feet deep in 20-25' of water in creek Chanel of cove. Typical that some are spawning, some are staging $ some are still trying to make up their mind.
Overall hit and miss but good size. If weather holds, should get really good over the next two weeks.
nice, sounds like a good time.
Welcome to the site. Nice to hear good reports coming from Mark Twain. We need to see those pictures of those smiling kids catching the crappie.
nice report, Jon Boat, and welcome. I was at twain over the weekend too and had similar results. kept 10 plus a small catfish. had a few dinks to toss back but most fish were around 12" and they had some shoulders to em, for twain anyways. I think there will be some good reports from MTL in the coming weeks!
Good fishing today. 2 limits of 11" to 13" inch fish. 3 hours of fishing. Caught from the bank. Fish are still scattered, but we did get all of ours of the bank. Sit and wait if you find a patch of fish they will fill back into the same spot in a few minutes. Lots of doubles and triples caught today waiting them out on 1 spot.
south point LIKED above post
sweet good to see kids fishing
All our fish were scattered also Saturday. Some nice ones and not so nice ones. This weekend doesn't look good with the storms. Plus 1-2 ft. of snow for Colorado and Wyoming. 20" for Rapid City, SD. They get winter for mothers day.
Fished wensday and thursday,it was tough two of us keep 13 one day and 11 the next all 11 plus. Only caught one female on the bank all the rest were at 8 to 9'.Only one male keeper threw back about a dozen male dinks.
Jig & Ellie are my green headed corn grinder finders.
