The slap in the partners face is good practice. I got it down pretty good so the person in the back of the boat take the fish off for me.

I have always used short poles for crappie and bluegill. The 5 ft. long ones. Well last year I decided to get an 11 ft BnM with a Plueger reel for crappie fishing. Husband got 2 12 fters. It would have made for a funny video trying to get use to using them. If I wasn't trying to slap myself in the face with a crappie I was trying to hit husband in face with fish. But he also was doing the same thing. Decided the other day to get another matching outfit. Picked them up and spooled with 15 lb. Spiderwire. Now will be a laugh trying to get use to them again this spring. I will still have a short rod out for fish close to the boat. Also need to get some more of the bungee clip things to hold rod together. If you have never tried them they are great. Bass Pro and Cabelas both have them. Just need warmer weather and life to let us fish.

Fish slapped!! it really sucks being the person in the middle of the boat!
Try going to Wallyworld and getting those ponytail stretchy holders with the plastic balls women use to hold their hair with. You get about a dozen for just a few bucks. These hold 2 and 3 piece rods together very well.
