Anyone been on the Cuivre at Old Monroe? Conditions? What about further up to the Cuivre River? Also, anyone been fishing the slough's up around Troy? Just curious, been a couple years since I have been to either place and I have an itch that needs scratched!

years and years ago, we used to access the river, seemed like it was east of hwy 40 (61). Usually this is where we went in the summer time. Always remember catching crappie. But there were a lot of gar in that area, and as soon as they moved in, the crappie scattered. But always managed to catch a few!
Be careful at that ramp off of Dalbow rd. It can be squirrely sometimes. But, I've only used it during duck season. Better have good tires on a 4x4. Never used it in the spring or summer. Might be better.
I have a couple of friends that live in St Charles, and they go up around Old Monroe. They say they still catch fish. They fish for whatever is biting, so don't know about how well the crappie fishing is.
Let us know how you did!!!!
We used to put in at Heitmans ramp east of Old Monroe. Not a real good ramp. You can catch anything in the Cuivre that you catch in the Mississippi. There is a good run of white bass usually in April way up river from Old Monroe. Pretty good crappie fishing in the laydown along the bank. In summer on hot evenings we would sit under the bridge at Old Monroe and hammer the whites feeding. There are some good flatheads in there too. Limb and jug lines work good.
