I probably have in my boat about every color combo of jigs or if not have probably bought them at one time LOL.

I always find myself using black/chartreuse or white/chartreuse the most as those are the two I have the most confidence in if I am searching. With confidence you will fish whatever color with more patience.
I always ask fellow crappie fishermen what colors they used when I see them at ramps and cleaning stations.
Most are happy to share their thoughts and I try their combos next time out.

    Welcome

I will echo what speck said. I like blue n white, black n char, red n char, straight white, white n char, and most colors with gray glitter. I hardly ever use painted heads bc I can't find them weedless in bulk. I'd rather not be hung up all day rather than catch a few more fish that are attracted to the painted head. Oh and don't forget brown in a pinch.

If you are not catching fish, stop by a fellow crappie fisherman and see what the tip of the day is.Just don't get to close and don't fish around him unless you are invited. Most crappie fishermen are good people and willing to help you out,(pink/white is also a good combo) May your livewells be full.

I fish that area a lot. I'm in a Ranger 520 white with red and gold stripes with a 225 merchant. If ya see me stop and say hi and I will tell what I'm catching them on and show ya some beds I have sunk.
There will be days when the fishing is better than one's most optimistic forecast, others when it is far worse. Either is a gain over just staying home.

This pretty well sums it up. Everyone has their favorite color combo or a few favorites that they have confidence in. That is the baits that always catch the most fish because it is the one you believe in and leave it in the water more than other colors. If you read through this entire thread there are a lot of colors mentioned but there are a couple that keep coming up on everyone's list of favorites. Grab you a few of those and get started in figuring out which one will be your favorite. I have only fished that stretch of LOZ a few times but I always did well on Pumpkinseed/Chart. in that area. I only fished 5 colors this year on Truman and will probably be the same way again this year.

Shush .That was my secret weapon. Glad you didn't tell that it was a
2" skirt with pumkin seed body and chartruse with sparkle tail fished
on a 3/32 ounce jig with # 2 sickle hook. They have never let me down.

Any color works this time of year as long as it is a live minnow!

Just buy 1 bag of every thing.... That's why lot's of fishermen get hernias from lifting tackle boxes.

I fish 6 poles when long lining and always have four black and chartreuse and two other colors and if one of the others does well I'll start changing out the black and chartreuse. Later in day if sun is out I'll change to lighter, but black and chartreuse always seems yo catch fish especially early.
