Cleaned 12 of them this year. We love eating them where I am from and they are common. A live snapper will strike like a rattle snake when threatened but will generally release.
A turtle head that has been cutoff will clamp down and not do so. Seen it happen to a a guy that had too many Nattys and got to brave.
what is it with people getting bit after drinking natty light? one more reason to drink MGD!
Was floating the Sac river one day and saw a young goose in some distress. Thought it might have been hung on a fish hook and line. When I got to the goose it was a snapper that had ahold of its leg. Snapper let go and the goose was free with a broken leg, but swam quite well with the good one.
Aint no reason to mess with em! They call em snappers for a reason! But, will eat some soup if i get the invite!
When I was younger one of my nieces that was around 8 years old was playing with a box turtle in my parents back yard, then we heard some screaming and looked over at her to see what was going on and she was runnning around with this turtle hanging from her tongue her arms waving around in the air. lol My brother and I chased her down and my brother rips the turtle off her tongue leaving a nice little v mark. We asked her what happened and she said she was giving the turtle a kiss while it was in it's shell and when she did it grabbed her by the tongue. :Rofl She still has not lived this down and needless to say she is terrified of turtles to this day.
