Arkabutla Lake Crappie Fishing Hotspots Mississippi Lake Slab Crappie
Oh, and welcome.
I keep/sail a Hobie Cat at Hernando point. I've fished there a few times in the past many years ago with friends on their boats, but not enough to really know anything about the lake and where to fish. I intend on finding out this spring though! :D
I live in Southaven as well. Will probably see you on the lake.
I live in Cockrum, Miss. off 305 and I love crappie fishing. I have been fishing since a was big enough to get in a boat with my dad. He pasted away about 6 yrs ago. He was a bream fisherman, but in the last 5 years I have been crappie fishing mostly. I like trolling and jigging. I need a new fishing partner my son is 19 and has other stuff on his mind right now.

I never noticed this when I joined up, better late than never I guess. I grew up in Millington Tn. My grandfather is a retired Navy Lieutenant Commander. He and my grandmother had an rv when I was a kid, grandpa used to pull the boat to Enid with it and grandma would follow in the car. They'd leave the RV down there all summer and make trips back home in the car for groceries and to check the mail and what not. We would stay with them a week or so at a time, grandpa did his serious fishing before the rest of us got out of bed but he would always take me and my brother back out later in the afternoon to dink around. My other grandparents owned a few acres with a pond in north Shelby county right on the Tipton county line. We also spent a lot of time with them in the summers and I used to sit at the end of this point that jutted out into the pond with spinning rod/reel and a bucket of minnows and wear out the crappie all day long.
25+ years later, grandpa Joe and grandma Peg are in their eighties and dont camp anymore, sold the rv years ago. Grandpa Bill and grandma Dorthy sold the house in the country for something smaller and easier to maintain. I hadn't fished other than my in-laws little pond in several years until I got a call last summer asking if I would be interested in my grandfather's old boat. Back when they were camping at enid every summer he was a die-hard crappie man but now that he is getting older he feels more comfortable sticking to the smaller local lakes just bass fishing for fun, he don't even keep em anymore, just loves catchin em. He upgraded to a bigger, more stable boat and gave me his old 1648 Grumman and I've been fishing every chance I get ever since. He used to have the whole family over for a big fish fry at least a couple times a year and the man could fry up a fillet that would make you slap your mama. Also grew corn and green beans in his garden that were the best you ever tasted. I look forward to the day I figure this thing out and can have him over for a fish fry at my house. I kinda get emotional just thinking about it. My dad was never in the picture much and my grandad has always kinda been my hero.
Have been lurking for awhile and decided to signup tonight.
41 yr old husband and father of two great kids. Been a bass fisherman all of my life, but really want to learn how to crappie fish. Fished clubs and many pick a partners over the years and qualified for a couple federation tournys. I never have been able to get past my desire to learn how to catch crappie. Hope you guys will share some info. Live in Clinton, so I'm within drivin distance of some pretty good crappie waters. My best crappie outings were back in the "Highway patrol lake" days. It didn't require a lot of skill!Awesome little fishery. Happy new year.
