Default Ripley's Believe It or Not: BCM catches LIMIT!

No, I didn't. Don't believe it. I did go fishing this morning, and unfortunately, my bride could not join me. What that meant was that I was able to get out to the lake earlier than usual. I'm just saying that beauty rest works for her, but it don't do nothing for me...I just as wells be fishing.

Anyway, I get out to the lake, and it was a beautiful morning. Only a very light wind, the sun was just starting to light up the clouds, and I was all alone. It was peaceful, serene, or whatever. I liked it. I drove on out to my fishing hole, and I put my four poles out in the water. As soon as I started trolling around in about 3FOW, I couldn't keep the crappie off my hooks. I was baiting and catching and baiting and catching and baiting and well you get the point. Seriously, for about an hour or so, I could not stop catching crappie. I didn't get a single bass, which is highly unusual for that area. I ended up with four keepers, threw back a few that might have passed but was too close for me to call, and I don't know how many honest-to-God dinks I chunked back.

Then the strangest things happened...the sun came up, the wind blew, and the fish stopped biting. I don't mean they tapered off. I mean that they stopped biting. I couldn't get one to bite my hook. I tried everything I knew to try, but I got nothing after the four that I got within an hour of launching the boat.

I did get to meet Speck Hunter. He is another fine fellow, and I'm happy to have met him. I'll tell ya'll. I've been impressed with the folks from crappie.com that I've met. Everybody is nice, helpful, and just plain ole', down right friendly. I may drop all the other friends I have and just hang out with crappie fishermen.

Oh oh oh...one more thing one more thing! My four fish were bigger than the ones we've been catching. Other than that 15"+ fish that Jennifer caught, most of our fish have ranged in the 13" to 13.5" range. These were right around 14 and 15". It ain't much of an improvement, but when God decides to give me something I don't be complaining!

during the week. MAN, by the tie I get there at 5ish, it's howling and I can't get on my spots. That bites, I FINALLY find a few spots and catch some fish, then the wind kicks in and I can;'t get back on them, AAAHHHHHH LOL

Dondon, yeah I know. I got it good right now. It ain't been this way for very long, and it won't stay this way too long. I've always worked, and sometimes it kills me to not have a "real job". BUT I get over that pretty fast when I'm out there fishing. I should have my butt kicked for not re-starting fishing as soon as I started college so I'd have had more time to enjoy it. When I graduate, it'll be back to the work. BUT (again with the but), if my plans don't change, I'll still be self-employed and do plan to make some time for early morning fishing...I'm just saying!

I highly recommend it. Even if the fish don't bite, it's well worth the trip just to watch the sunrise. Some people like the sunset, but I'm all about the sunrise. I like it because it's like the world is waking up from its slumber. I don't know...it's got something to do with birth, creation, etc. Just feels good. That's all I know. Get out there if you can.

Is it just me, or as you read BCM's last response, could you also hear the faint "The hills are alive with the sound of music" playing in the background?

I hate mourning people. They're all just lucky I don't get up earlier. If I did, I'd give 'em a piece of my mind.

WB, you are too funny! I'm a victim here...just know that. I was raised on a farm. You know: Early to rise, early to bed. It is something that held over into my adulthood (or at least late 30s, adulthood is questionable at this point). I love the mornings. Yeah yeah yeah.

AND I ain't mourning! AND the hills are alive with the sound of music. I've heard them, so I know!

That's weird, now I'm hearing "Got me a pipe, got me a fiddle, sun's coming up, I got cakes on the griddle".

Come to think of it, every post I read from Satdoc, I hear that theme in Deliverance - dueling banjos. Da da, de-da, de-da, de-da de, ba ba bum-bum-bum. You know how it goes.

Default Alright, thats enough of that!

Between work and other commitments and the weather, I just haven't been able to get on the water in about a month. I've even had to cancel several planned trips! Its gotten to be painful reading C.C. And now Max has done it. His beautiful prose- poetic even :p- has pushed me over the edge and I'm going fishing tomorrow right after I drop the kids at school and I won't feel the least bit guilty about it!

So I've got just one question Max- If'n I get in trouble with work, will you write me a note? from the President, of course- could do the trick...

Seriously- keep writing about your trips, I like it.
    What?
