    Default Saw something interesting sunday


    at the lake. This couple that I've talked to a few times were using red worms for Crappie and the actualyl caught some. Thought that was wierd since we all use either jigs or minners.

    That's nothing Don. Took my kids to a pond for some brim and bass fishing couple of years back. A young couple with a 5 year old drove up and took a honkin catfish spinning rod and a 3 ounce weight (pond 6 foot deep) threaded a hot dog on the hook and plunked it down in the middle of the lake then spread a blanket out and commenced to having a picnic. All the while me, my kids and my Dad were snickering about it. 30 minutes later, we heard, hoopin', hollerin and splashing and turned around to see them land what appeared to be a solid 8 pound LM. They didn't even have a GPS. True Story.

    I have used a jig head with a blade and a 3" skinny red worn cut down to about 2" and caught crappie when minnows, crickets, and reg. tube types wouldn't even get a second look. (Then I woke up and my wife made me go to the couch. Something about laughin in my sleep and keepin her wonderin what I was dreamin bout.) But no, seriously, I have tried that little red wormy thingy with some success on my dabbin pole.
