Well, this is how it went. First I followed Wannabe around for a while laughing at how he drives his boat and picking up all the fish he missed. --The "v" goes forward WB, even if you still think your boat has better traction in "front wheel drive". --Then, after he fell in the water a few times, broke a pole, and finally managed to foul-hook a drum (which he quickly hoisted in the air and yelled "What a Slab!!") I grew tired of this and motored off. Eventually I found SatDoc and Pstone anchored up in a cove sipping martinis and discussing the finer points of Homer's "The Illiad". I tried to go over and introduce myself, but they asked me what I thought of Homer, and I said "Simpson? I love him!!". After that they wouldn't talk to me anymore. I never thought I'd see anyone crappie fishing while wearing those smoking jackets like Heph wears, but it takes all kinds I guess. Then I met BCMax, who said "Hey, put your jig right over here". I stuck it in the water, and WHAM there she was!!
Seriously, Grand Lake, AR Saturday mid afternoon on a hair jig in about 3 foot of water. We had a good mess that day of about 20 fish, several over two pounds. I owe the fish mostly to jfsmith, as this is one of his home lakes. He smoked me (as usual) on total number of fish, but I did manage this beauty, and I couldn't be happier!! She was skinny too, and had already spawned or we think she could have easily went 3lbs.
