    Default Need an answer !!!

I'm going out in the morning (Grenada) and my fiance wants to "tag along". She does not fish at all, and has no fishing license, and practiclly refuses to buy one for that reason. She'll take a book and her mp3 player and go along for the ride. She'll have a pfd in the boat. Will we be ok if the warden comes over to "check us out"? I carry 2 telescopic poles, (one for a "backup"). Maybe I should leave the spare at home? What do you guys think?

i would think u can have as many rods in the boat as u want as long as she doesnt have one in her hand u should be alright.probably woulnt be a good idea 2 have 2 out at the same time with her sitting there that would give the warden a reason to question u

My understanding is if she does not have a pole in her hand she does not have to have a license. There is no law that says you must have one to be with someone who is fishing. I would just make sure if you have both in the water that one is not within her reach. Two weeks ago they were checking at 51 a boat had three guys in it. One sis not have a license. The GW did not make a deal out of it because he was just sitting there and did not have a pole in his hands.
I sit and wait only to sit and wait!

My wife is same way and will not buy a license. She goes out on Enid with me in the summer and lays out on the back deck reading. Has never been a problem with the game wardens.

    Default Be careful

My wife and I had just got married in 99' and was doing a little fishing/camping honeymoon thang at the lower Sardis Lake. She didn't have a license because she didn't know how to fish, never been in a boat. I hadn't fished the lower lake but a couple of times and had no idea that you can't set out a trotline,:D and about the time I got it all set up I kept hearing a horn blowing untill I saw the GW motioning us to come over there (him standing on the bank with an air horn). So I thought he would check my license and say have a nice day, he proceeded to write us both a ticket for an illegal trotline and one for Her for no fishing license. I said WHAT, She's not fishing, he told me when she handed me a can of hooks (they were in the back of the boat and I couldn't reach them) that she was fishing too. I told him it was our honeymoon and so he gave us a break and just wrote me a ticket for the trotline($100), what a guy! Well you live and learn, the thing that gets me is there was yo-yo's and limb lines all around the lake. I guess the moral of the story is if you don't have a license don't touch anything that is associated with fishing i.e. tackle box, minnow bucket etc. BIRD
