    Default Columbus Lake

I aint posted a report on Columbus Lake in a while so here it is. We went friday me, my 13 yr old and his best friend, after school and the rain and caught 32. Went back Saturday to the same hole and carried an elderly gentleman from church and caught 45 in the same little stump field. We were fishing about 12"-14" casting a Blue Grub with a white tail during the middle of the day. IN the afternoons we would change to a purple/gold grub with a chartruse tail. The feller from church had never fished like this before in really shallow water and he had a ball. Both kids had a good time too Friday. My son even helped me clean em Saturday night. The fish are very shallow round here. Mr John this was up Tibbee creek since you are so far away and I don't think you will drive all the way up here just to invade my hole:p. I reckon there aint but bout 3 boats know about this one cause thats all I've seen in there. PLus is aint big enough fer many more boats to get in there. Three is crowded.

Minnerman....since you are giving a Tenn-Tom report, if its alright, I'll give one a little farther downriver. Went yesterday and carried a co-worker and his son to Gainesville Lake. He loves to eat crappie but doesn't get to fish much. We brought home 61, so I think he is stocked up for a while. Caught all of them shallow, in several different areas...mostly on jigs but did catch a few on minnows.

I have a sister and brother-in-law living in Steens that we still visit. He has a boat, too. Loves to crappie fish. Boy, I sure miss that river. And you know how to rub it in.

Well I guess I will chime in and give a reprot as well. Been doing real good from the Columbus Lock down to the Aliceville pool. I've had the best luck in the Camp Pratt area. Caught lots of small fish but if you have paitence you will end up with a good stringer of big ones. Also have been fishing the Rez alot lately and have had some good sucess there as well but the wind is somethi8ng fierce

duckkiller...been fishing the Camp Pratt area for about the last twenty years. Years ago you caught lots of big fish, but seems in the last five or six years that place has gotten a lot of pressure from a lot more fishermen and the average size has gotten smaller.I agree there are still good fish there if you know where to find them.

He aint used it yet. That trolling rod wont work real well in 2' water. plus he went with his momma to Bass Pro this weekend. Grenada will be fun. I got an inside connection on Grenada that mite help me out. I just got to carry his son here on Columbus one day. Bad thing is, his son has a boat and likes to fish. Dont know if I want to trade off a lifetime of spot for a one day stand. Cause if someone shows me a place to fish, dont think I wont fish it. It's fair game then. We will see.

I wish somebody knew something about fishing north of there, from Smithville to north of Fulton. I just started fishing again after not going for maybe 10 years and those places are only half an hour from me over here in Alabama.
