I finally had a break from kids’ activities, home maintenance, and other stuff go fishing for a bit and get the boat off the trailer to switch the outer bunks. We ended up with 7 crappie that were mostly in the 11-12” range, and my son caught the 15” that weighed 1#14oz. All fish, including the ones that we threw back, were caught from pulling crankbaits. There were plenty of fish visible on the bottom and suspended around the brush piles off the river’s channel. I saw the water surface temperature rise from 85-degrees F around 8:30 to almost 90-degrees F by noon.
My son wanted the big one pan fried, so this is how my wife cooked it. The pan wasn’t big enough, so she had to cut the head off the body to make it fit. I ended up filleting the rest, and we will probably eat those on Monday for dinner.
(Not pictured: one catfish that was large enough that my son wanted to keep)
