Takes a lot of hand strength to lock them down, I used a pair of channel locks on one of my hand knobs cause it wouldn't tighten. After seeing this post, I will be thru bolting my bottom base hand knob as well as the upper rack as well, get rid of that mickey mouse crap. Lot of money riding on these racks down the road, and most time to dark to see them when heading to the lake.
Yeah I am really torn on what to do now. I really liked the versatility of these and being able to move them to different positions if need be but now afraid I will worry every time I hit the road. I thought I had them tightened down pretty good so I guess the only alternative is to use longer bolts and put a lock nut on the back side. But that will eliminate the ease of making changes.
