This happened when I took a guy spider rigging for his first time. You might experience something like this along the way while longlining too. I told him I was so impressed with his knot tying talent that I had to take a picture of it. LOL

Dude, I stay ready with the knife or clippers, cut that crap loose and throw it in the corner and tie some more on!!!!
You might need a set of shears to get all that undone

Oh that definitely got cut off.
Side cut nippers and 30 seconds and I'll have that mess ready to retie.
I posted that picture to give you guys something to strive for. If you're gonna do something, do it to the full extent of your abilities.
My Daddy would spend 3 hrs getting that untangled. Drives me crazy. I would give it the trusty XX case
My dad would have me sit in the driveway and straighten out nails to put in a coffee can to save a dime.

My dad is 90 yrs old. I think all those people who grew up during the depression are very tough and very careful with their money. I remember Daddy walking from one end of Hamilton Place mall to the other to get his money back on a shirt because he found the same shirt a dollar cheaper at another store.
I think they just knew how hard it was to get money and learned to save it. I think the younger generation could learn from them. My dad was raised in eastern Ky and had work at a young age and learned the value of a dollar

It took me awhile to realize it was all in the way and age that he grew up in, but that being said he would cuss like a drunken sailor when he was trying to build something and the nails kept bending on him. I would laugh under my breath when I got on the other side of the house over the hills and on the other side of the county just to make sure he didn't hear me.

Them days of pullin nails is what made most of us a better person, I’m thankful for the lifestyle I have now, but sometimes I miss them days.
