Pulling cranks

I just tie up a 3 foot leader with a #2 duo lock on each end, I also use a duo lock on the end of my line. With this method you can buy these type trolling sinkers and change them out on the fly to use whatever weight you desire.

Those snap on weights are nice and all, but they seem mighty dang proud of them. The charts should still be the same no matter snap on weight or inline.

I have only pulled cranks with a lot line out but it seems like pulling a crank with a 1oz or bigger weight 3’’ft in front of the crank bait would cause you to get less bites. Again, never tried it but if these guys say it works, I am sure it does.

I will let you know how it works in September, I am going to give it a try. Sure sounds better than having 80 / 100 feet of line out!

I fished cranks with an egg shaped weight 3' in front of crank for years and didn't catch nearly as many versus pulling without weight (lots of line out). I switched to using weights from "ScottV" this year and now I'm catching as good with the weights as without weights. The torpedo shaped weights work a lot better for me. My guess is they cause less turbulence for crank to pass thru.

Personal preference I reckon, I don't seem to have any trouble with the weights. Crappie aren't as shy as a lot of folks think.
