So most if you pull from the front haft of your boats, for what i'm seeing in your pic. That what I been doing and it has been work good. I just thinking it be easer from the sides or out the back.

I like to use my bimini top so fishing out the front and sides is awkward and kinda pain in the arse on my boat. I run my long rods off a trolling rack in the back and one short rod on the front sides that I can pull thru the bimini supports.
I think I would like fishing off the front and sides more tho especially when the top is not needed. Plan to experiment with umbrellas, and pushing instead of pulling from the rear only. THis weekend I plan to try a new bimini slide mount I just installed. Should give me more flexibility to push the top all way to the back if I want to use the front deck instead. Infinite number of options.
It is easier off of the back and should you have to, for some reason, make a hard turn and you are pulling from the front, you could accidentally get a line or 2 into your big motor prop. Even though the motor is not running, the blade is turning and will wrap up your line in a heart beat and break your rod tips before you can say "oh crap." I fish a lot of stumpy areas and there is the occasional stump you don't see until the last minute and you have to make an aggressive move to avoid it. I've never had that problem on the big 4 though.Quote:

Hey John, I've thought about that but I assumed that without the motor down to act as a rudder that the wind would blow the back of the boat around too much. Is that not the case? Thanks.Quote:

I used to pull in the middle of my boat . I recently moved to the back , I really like the back of my boat if fishing side by side (2/3 people) . Lots more room . Every boat is different. Mount your holders temporarily on plywood and move them around your boat in driveway, until you like where their at . I even put the rods in my holders when setting them up to make sure distance from seats are comfortable.
I leave my big motor down all the time, better tracking it seems. Only had the lines get in the prop twice in hundreds of outings, once with Clifford on the Rez (he was driving) I had to climb over the transom. Once this year with a buddy of mine, was his 8 year old daughters fault more less, papa (her dad) took a swim this time. My biggest issue when pulling from the back is all the weight is on the stern and the trolling motor is losing bite on the bow (I run a 60" shaft), plus I've pulled from the back with two poles with my old boat, my side poles did better, catch a lot of fish in the turns. Like G says at the end of the day it's all about preference, get out there and try if you don't like it change it up.

I pull from the back....again I just like that way better for me. Back of boat was heavy but I never lost bite with my trolling motor. This year I moved my two heavy group 31 trolling batterys from back to front for better weight distrubution.....its a complete different boat now.....handles better in all aspects. I like it.

That's exactly what I did as well . Batteries in front . Fill the livewell. Bury that 60 inch terrova in the water , and truck on !!! When Snobby says his side poles catch more , I wonder if their his longest poles ? Moved all mine to the back and catch ratios have not changed. My long poles always produce more though, no matter where they are placed .
