I wish they would outlaw using treble hooks. I know last trip out cranking, i let go personally 5-6 that were dead when they went back in. Bleeding, and the gills hanging out.
Think they tried that at first. Didn't work, as the "deep hooked rule" was abused by a lot of people.Quote:

I wonder if a slight increase in trolling speed would reduce the amount of gut-hooked fish?
When I start hooking the fish deep in their mouth I increase my trolling speed and it seems to decrease the deep hook ups.Quote:
