How often, if ever, do you change out the co2 gas cylinder on your pfd? Mine are about two years old. Wondering if they need to be changed out every so often to insure that they have not leaked down.

Look for expiration date on cylinder. I change mine every year.

It don’t puncture the cylinder till it inflates . Before I changed them every year I had one go off just sitting on the chair in the house at about 1 1/2 years old.

Just checked mine. The only thing that is date sensitive is the bobbin. Must be changed once a year if in commercial use. Every 4 years in recreational use. It also says that the bobbin should be less than 4 years from date of manufacture when you install it.
I want to thank you for posting this as mine is in need of a new bobbin. It might work fine, BUT the Coast Guard might not think it real smart on my part. Once again, thank you. Hope other folks will be reminded to check theirs.
Side note: Mine also recommends removing the cartridge and bobbin and storing in a dry place if it isn't going to be used for a while.

Probably stupid question, but can you get a ticket for an expired life jacket?
I just changed the bobbin's in ours last week, thanks for reminding everyone.

I guess my A/M Onyx is used in commercial use but I've never heard of the commercial use rule. Mine is the only inflatable on the boat unless a client brings their own. I do keep a regular life vest tucked away in a rod box in case there is an issue with LEO over my inflatable. I know it has to be on me to count but mine is always on the console when I shut the Suzuki down.
