We was the fishing in Enid this weekend and this bug kept hanging around the boat with us. Any idea what it is?

Looks like a Click Beetle, or Snap Beetle as we used to call them. If you flip them over they will snap their head up and flip themselves back over. This makes a clicking or snapping noise that is actually audible. They are harmless, and if you pick them up and hold them tight they will snap or click in your hand to try to make you turn loose so they can escape.

Click beetle. Touch him between his head and thorax and he will turn a summersault.

We have them in Missouri but they’re black or dark brown and a lot smaller this thing was about inch or inch and quarter long
