I pilot link not tracking straight at slower speeds

Yes, just the i-Pilot on my ultrex, wind will push you all around on a line if you aren’t going directly with it. Into a stiff wind is a fight with the light front end of my boat unless at 4 or higher tm speed.

I think it has more to do with my boat being aluminum and lighter than a glass boat, but even in the 21 foot ranger I fish out of, the link did not perform as planned. Have heard MK is coming out with some new technology on it, may change the game.

Im sure both of you have gps pucks. so it still doesnt work well with those either? when i mean zig zag, i mean constantly back and forth overcorrection of speed and direction. unuseable.

Ipilot does not weave as bad, I may get off track a bit but it just keeps heading same general direction. Only speeds up when I make pretty significant turns with the remote. And yes, I have the puck

See that’s still better than me. Mom is bad enough that like the crowd at Eagle Lake I would not be able to stay away from other boats trying to go straight

That crowd was a nightmare, was pulling jigs thru them, in that case it’s better to stay on the control and steer. Had quite a few close calls out there this weekend

Jim, I have never tried the follow the contour function since I have only run a couple on other folks boats. Here is a suggestion, go into menus and set it back to the legacy mode, then when pressing the N button hold it down until the circle disappears around the N. That puts it back in the compass mode and it will track a lot straighter. I found for some reason that the LINK in the GPS navigate mode wanders much worse than my Ipilot does in GPS navigate.

We had alot of problems with our ultrex ilink wandering around trying to go straight at lower speeds. I figured out to either put the power poles down and create a little of drag. Or if going across wind, we turn the paddles sideways like rudders. Both ways make a huge difference.
