John, the reason for the deep spawners I believe is this . On c.o.e. waters as the water rises some fish that start to spawn do not move with rising water. We some times catch spawning fish in really deep (12-15 ) . The Bynum creek area flat will be less than 4 ft . then go to 8-10 almost every year between middle March - end of April . Depending on gate settings and weather patterns, we must "hunt" them . Some think we are having a terrible spawn when actually they are just spread from Billy's creek to Blufford Mc Culloughs .(deep )

I agree Coach, fished deeper this past spring than I ever have, not all of them move shallow.

Have to tie one, boats covered.
It's pretty simple, thread on two hooks or quick snaps and then tie on a good size snap swivel (where I snap on a sinker), up 6 inches, tie a loop knot with a hook or quick snap in it, up 18 inches, tie another loop knot with a hook or quick snap in it, and up 6 inches tie in a regular swivel to hook to the main line.

Ok I got ya. U use bell sinker with the brass eye.

Yes sir

Pretty much all I do is power troll June thru September. Always use 1 oz Carolina rigged jig or jigs. I don't push cranks much anymore because I don't like the heavy weights. Don't like how its like lifting barbels in on a fishing pole in the boat. 45 degree line angle and 2/3 of the length of line out equals bait depth. I mostly fish in a lake full of crappie though so that helps. I'm targeting the dumb ones to lol.

Guess I'm complicating the question. Why ever use the 2 oz weight? Why not just use the 3 oz all the time ? I haven't used 2 oz power trolling at any depths. Are you trying to unload rods with 2 oz to see light bites better?

Trying to keep the lines from laying back over 45 degrees

If pushing double rigs with 1oz weights at .6 to .8 mph is considered power trolling then I been doing an awful lot of it without even knowing it, heck learn something new everyday.
