Thread: Common Courtesy on the Big Four

I move out to the middle of the lake if my am moving to a new location. I try to leave 200 yards or more between boats. I won't move in on someone jigging around cover. If trolling I may pass by to say hello and to ask how they are doing and continue on away from them.

If I'm running in an area that I can't get a distance away from several boats who are fishing a channel ledge or point, I'll back off to an idle speed. If it is just one boat, I'll keep as much distance as possible and back down to a mid-range plane speed and go on by.

Clients are sponges. They take in everything a guide does, good or bad. I want to always make a good impression as to my boat operation. That might very well have an effect on the way they operate their boat.

You are right mrdux. They will think if you do it, it must be OK. I have noticed the higher the dollars in the boat the lower the IQ of it's driver.

The guy that makes me the maddest is one who passes you on one side then goes out 100 yards sits down then cuts right in front of you. If you want on that side, go down that side.

I also try to plane off where I least disturb anyone, sometimes that takes me in the wrong direction but once on plane I'll wrap back around everyone on the outside.
