Times two on the guide for a day. You will cut your learning curve in half. The LakeMaster and Hummingbird card is also a must as far as I am concerned. You may think you are in open water but look out :yikes. I went in March a couple of years ago and stayed for a month and a half. Boy Howdy did I get a lesson on lake depth and change. I saw folks running wide open in areas that 2 days earlier had stumps sticking up all over. I also saw areas that I had run wide open that made my heart skip a few beats when I saw what was under that water.
That year the water jumped up 5 or more feet in less than 2 days. You need to be careful on that lake and use common sense while running it. Good luck and again if it is your first trip Ress. would be a good investment.
Take plenty of beer just in case you gotta sit at the cabin all day if you go toward the end of February. Best guides on the lake won't take trips that early. But....like feesh said the weather can turn it on. You just never kno. I'd play it say tho
