Default Reservoir / lake about 2 hrs from New Orleans

Looking for a lake within a couple hour drive from New Orleans. I live in Thibodaux, la. So I can cut thru Baton Rouge, I-55 or I 10.

Would like one that has cabins, motel on the water.

To get somewhere from here like Toldeo Bend is around 5 hr drive. Just looking for a good crappie lake and a place to relax.

    Any help would be appreciated

Don’t know if any in Ms that close. There is Lake Okhissa to the west of McComb. May be able to make that in a couple hrs. They don’t have any cabins or motels on water be it’s on a national forest. I’’d check some of the river oxbows up hwy 61. They have several up through there and may have some type accommodations. All the USCOE lakes are north of Jackson , which from where you’re at it at least 6-7 hrs. If not more. Ross Barnett would be at least 4 1/2 hrs. I’’d research ms state lakes & national forest lakes. They have several up I55. I work close close to Grand Isle and make the drive from ne ms twice a month so driving time is fairly accurate. Maybe that will help you some.

We are having a gathering at Larto the last week of Jan. Cabins at Bud's are very nice and reasonable. Come join us. Fishing should be great if we don't get a bunch of rain between now and then.

I was born and raised in Bunkie,La. I've fished Saline/Larto many times. just looking for a lake with more public land/camps around it. Possible looking to buy after visiting the lake a few times. Larto / Saline has high water problems quite often. Looking for more of a reservoir type lake but thanks for the suggestions

If you go to okissa you better have your ducks in a row. It's a beautiful lake and has some good fishing. I think Percy Quin is producing some good fish now it's also a state lake with cabins in mccomb ms
