Did it bite a crank bait? I wasn't aware that they fed on fish? I've never caught one but had a zillion jump into the boat it seems

Not really sure what happened, not a hook in him, line was wrapped around his tail and hook on the cranks. 90 foot out when the process started, 240 feet of line out when I started gaining ground.
