Pretty much why I was happy to just be driving around looking that day and not out in the heat! :) I'll say this though. The first 4 times I went to Butla I caught limits single pole fishing. First time I fished 2 hours w/o a bite and hit one spot straight across the boat ramp and ended up with a limit in an hour around brush. I think there was a small creek/ditch running next to the brush. Next few times they were spawning and caught limits around stumps etc. on the east end of the lake. I've been quite a few times since and few and far between. Sometimes you just have to be lucky!!!! Sure wish they'd put one of those piers at Holiday Lodge on Sardis!!!!!!
I have not been to Butla in years, did they put in another pier? I thought the one at Hernando point was owned by the yacht club and off limits to fishermen?
Butla is a dead sea mostly, this time of year. The locals still catch a few. It is very hard for me to figure a pattern. Fall fishing is better. I like winter fishing their also..
I say again, I couldn't catch a limit there with a pod of orkas.
Funny. MSN had a link the other day for top recreational lakes in each state. Guess what lake was listed for MS? Yep. Butla. I laughed.
