Jerry Baker had a program on public tv years ago, jerry baker dot com. Mother-in-law bought the set of books that he offered. He made tonics and a few tricks for most every lawn problem without using chemicals, poisons. The bad thing is his tonics and tricks would detour, but not get rid of moles. Here's a list of things to try.
When trimming roses or blackberries stab the stalk into the tunnel, cut it off at ground level and step on it flatten the tunnel down. Do this a foot or so apart. The mole finds the thorns and goes around.
Chew a piece of Juicy Fruit or bubble gum until soft, soft gummy candy will do the same. Dig into the tunnel to find both holes, place a piece in each side then cover hole. The gummy stuff messes with their fur. They will go around.
Hair from a barber/beauty shop placed in the holes then covered. Messes with their fur. They will go around.
Hot pepper flakes, sauce, powder, can be mixed with water and poured or placed into the holes. Mammals don't really like hot stuff. They will go around.
Human male pee or laundry ammonia poured into the tunnel. They don't like the smell. They will go around.
Human male pee poured along the edge of a garden will keep critters out.
Don't use human female pee, it's as good as Round Up.

Granules are good if you want to kill the worms too.

They are good for a 60 to 80 ft circle depending on soil. The batteries last a year or 2. I have 20.

I tried the urin trick,my neighbors called the law when they seen me peeing in a mole hole.

I disagree with the old advise about killing grubs to kill their food source .That is misguided since earthworm are their major food source.Take the time to google "mole control" and you will find a lot of info from reputable organizations among them several different university studies with limitless valid information.
I used to use the pronged traps and caught only a few occasionally.The trap I now prefer is the wire tek or the easy trap.They resemble scissors and you have to put them in an active feeding run.These traps don't miss-you have to remove the mole from the trap.
If I am lucky enough to catch one digging a 12 gauge ,3'' ,#4 turkey load does a real good job.......

Grandma used those old style traps that stabs the mole when it trips the trigger. Like Ken I had a fiest dog once that was absolute death to any mole around. The chemicals work well from what I hear but I've never tried them. I got a big yard, 5 acreas, and it wouldn't be practical.
