Way it goes. I suspect you might troll. I single pole jig only. I might be wrong though on how you caught yours.

I do troll, single poling has not been its best this year, we needed some rise and current, no rise, way less fish go shallow. Caught spawning fish last Tuesday in 12 foot of water, eggs running off their tails. I love the thump as much as anyone else but I fish to catch fish and most days I can do better trolling, cover more water.
Not unless we get a good rise, I honestly don't. It's just an opinion tho.
Sardis was tough this year. Just like the last couple years. Before that 3' rise they were catching a few a piney. I been going to Grenada and Enid on the weekends and it's starting to wind down there. Sardis quit Easter weekend for me anyway. I am not giving up yet. Just got to find em. Somebody somewhere is tearing them up.

Deep water maybe but I don't think anything shallow. I've fished the entire lake east of holiday. Few and very far in between. I think most spawned out in the middle of the lake. Usually I go back out and fish about 10 FT and catch some nice one's in May. So far zilch. Not a fish to be found anywhere around a tree.
They were shallow east of Holliday when lake was 245.6 in March. Lots of fish were caught. 2nd week April the short fish hit the banks. Then it was over. You need to go to other lakes. Some are hot some are not. Didn't catch 1 limit at Sardis this year. Had 27 this year between Grenada and Enid. I expect same outcome this fall. Next year should be gang busters at Sardis. Should be but if not Iam going on down the road. But I will say this you've got to put time in to catch fish consistently. I've got 28 beds at Grenada 82 at Enid over 200 at Sardis. Everytime I go fishing I give back and make some habitat. Doesn't take long to make them.
If you drop one condo per visit per lake you're doing more for the fish than the next 10 fisherman, maybe 50. I've worked 7 habitat days and haven't fished the first condo I built.
I'll be cutting bamboo tomorrow for tomato stakes. I'll have a lot left over here if someone wants to come by for it.
I probably need to spread my wings and get out of Sardis all the time. Its just not like it used to be. Not even close. I don't care what anyone says. My story and I'm sticking to it. And I know plenty catch limits. 15 ain't 50 like it used to be. And I will say the few fish I've caught have been on stake beds. Not sure if that's helping the fish or making it easier to catch though. :)
