You can't fix stupid..
I don't know about you guys, but I'd rather them blow by me haulin' butt than to slow down and throw a wake that would make a surfer's eyes light up. I don't expect them to slow to a no wake speed. I fished out of a 15 ft. johnboat and those that slow down would dang near capsize me. Just sayin'
Im not taking up for them... and people should always go out of their way to stay out of the way of people who were there first. But...staying on plane causes way less wake than slowing down. So indeed it seems disrespectful when they buzz by me......but I have to tell myself that it would have been worse if they would have shut down and swamped me. Seems way more respectful to slow down but that is usually more disruptive in my experiences. So either way I guess it is loose / loose if ya wanna look at it pessimistically. :twocents :biggrin
One time at the welfare hole/43 bridge, there this bass fisherman.
Said fisher of the easiest to catch fish in the world was wearing a helmet ( I guess because his boat is so fast).
Said helmet had a skull on it, and his passenger had a matching one.
Said man commences to running through 150 boats at 1/4 throttle, standing up at looking around. Was it to look cool, or was it because his skull helmet had x-ray vision and he could see the fish?
Either way, they go up the safe harbor channel a ways and cut it off and fish... WITH THEIR HELMETS ON. As soon as their 5 ft. wake subsides, here they come again on 1/4 throttle!
Next thing I know an older fellow, probably used to be a principal or something because he chewed tail like one, trolls in front of the guy and flags him down.
Said bass fisherman stops and commences to getting his * chewed out... still wearing the helmet!
There was a light applause after Mr. Bonehead left.
I agree fully! Nothing's worse than that 1/4 throttle, bow in the air, wake breaking like ocean rollers, and when fishing in the nav channels you have to expect some level of traffic. Especially near the north end of the lake where you can always run out of the channel anyways. But it does get under my skin when in the open parts of the lake and they run right by you when they could give the ones fishing a wide berth.

This. It's more about proximity than the wake. If I can read your patches you're just too close. Please give some room.
I was out there too. I just wish they didn't have to have a bass tournament EVERY SINGLE WEEKEND. I ruins it for pleasure fisherman that work Mon-Friday. I knew there would be a tournament and knew I only had a little while to fish so I went ahead and launched my little Carolina Skiff at 5 AM straight up so I knew I could get a parking spot and not have to fight all that boat traffic at blast off time. If the wind had stayed down I could have stayed on the big water because the boat traffic was not that bad in the middle of the lake. Upriver was terrible though after I relocated because of the wind. Knowing what I know now I wish I would have stayed out on the big water in some remote locations out of the wind.
But as crowded as it was I wouldn't trade a day on the lake for any day at work and I caught 17 for supper.

Nice catch. Starting to color up early this year.
Couple nice specks in there I see. I caught a few last time I was out. First time in a while for me.
