Default GPS / fish finder Question

Ok I have a fish finder attached to my trolling motor. I would also like some sort of a GPS for marking spots. Do you guys prefer a Handheld GPS or a GPS/Fish finder combo. I really looking for something under $300 if possible. Thanks in advance.

Would not use a fish finder without GPS given a choice. The mapping on todays fish finders is outstanding. So much so that I always run with the contour map on on one side of my screen. The bigger the screen the better.

Best chance for your budget is to check the classified for someone upgrading to a newer or larger model. For a GPS/Sonar combo a 5" screen is bare minimum and 7" is better. If you run across a Lowrance Elite 7 that is a good unit and should be some around. They have been around for a few years so some used ones should pop up. A similar size in Humminbird or the other brands would be good too.
I bought the HB with the 3.5" screen several years ago because it was the only combo I could afford. It works, but it is too small to use with any degree of comfort.
