i'm fixin to pull the trigger on one myself but one thing im unsure of is the universal sonar for my bow unit (hbird 688di). my understanding is those built in transducers are only gonna give you sonar, the di is not going to function. is that right or wrong.

That is correct. I don't use the built in because I like 2d and DI. I use the xtm 9 di 25 t. Its made for trolling motor mounting. It's a solid transducer that will not break off if you hit stumps or rocks.

It's the cats meow fellas. Spot lock is incredibly accurate too don't matter if you're in no wind or white caps. I was single pole jigging brush here in Illinois the other day with mine and every time I would catch a fish to put in the live well I would just hit spot lock and when I would come back to the front of boat I would never be far enough away that I couldn't jig the pile with my 11ft rod. The jog feature is going to be incredible too when wanting to really work an area over precisely. Coming from a cable drive motor my whole life their was absolutely no adjustment period for me and the foot pedal of this one which I thought was great

I have watched two videos and they spend most of the time discussing spot lock. However, they never mention or show using the remote to actually steer or adjust speed. SO is it exactly like my terrova meaning I do not need the foot control at all to do everything including steer.

It's exactly like a terrova and exactly like a fortrex. You can use the remote or foot pedal at any time. Does everything your terrova does plus steers easy, fast,& quiet like a cable steer when you decide to go poke grass. I like it because I can long line, push jigs, single pole, etc and not have to swap out motors like I have been having to do
