As long as they are wired in parallel you could use a hundred batteries....its still gonna just be twelve volts.

Thanks for the reply. I went to our local Bass Pro and looked at the smaller aluminum bass trackers and they all had 45 lb Minn Kota edge. I looked at the trolling motor display and decided that the 65 was too big. I narrowed it down to the 55 (24v) and the 45 (12v).
I'm wondering what my boat had originally (1989 bass tracker ).
Go as big as you can...have never seen too much power in the t/m
I went to bass pro and looked at the new boats and like you say they all came equipped with 45's so I went with that since my boat is a little smaller (1989 model). The 65 was too big and would require a one or two new batteries. Hope this 45 will do the job! Thanks for the reply.
I still say bigger is better. I don't think in too big.
Got the 45 installed today. The old motor was a 28 so maybe this jump in ft lbs will do the trick!
