With all that said, I have used high Tec's. The guys that helped get me started spidering used them. I have felt with Scott and no issues. I just didn't care for them as they didn't suit my styles of fishing. The rod holders would move and I constantly had to reposition them.
My second set of rod holders has been the spider locks. I like them and haven't looked back wishing I stayed with the tite lok. Things i like about the spiders are they stay out when you adjust them. They easily adjust any way you put them. They work great for pulling, pushing and cranking. Thing I don't like is they block my view when driving the boat. I wish they would lay down.
With that said a lot of guys have changed to the individual rod holders. I have fished with and used the tit lok individual holders out of someone's boat. I can say They adjust easily, they fold down when riding. Down side to me is they move easily and when you get a fish ya have to re adjust them back to level. A lot of them require more than 8 holes but less than a billion. Some of the new ones have a track system too which eliminates a lot of the holes.
I prefer my holders to stay level when fishing. This allows me to pay attention to the rods more instead of being aggravated cause a rod isn't level.
Good advice and that's too ask to fish with someone that has what you are considering purchasing.
I don't think any of the rod holder companies are bad to deal with or heard negative things about any of them. It will come down to personal preference in the end!!
