With both daughters and my wife's birthdays all in one month along with my work schedule of late I was beginning to fear that boat would begin to dry rot. Luckily I was able to sneak out of the house for a couple of hours and get a quick trip down to the lower end of the Rez on Monday. After fooling around with the trolling motor for a while I finally got about and hour or so to actually fish. I single poled and pitched a jig under a cork around some shallow docks and found them loaded with feisty males. The action was pretty fast and they were trying to snatch the pole out of my hand. Just before I left I moved out to some deeper cover and found a pig of a female! The big slab was over 17in. And went 2lb 14oz on one scale and 3lbs 1oz on my buddies. Dropped down again a hooked one of equal size but she wrapped me around a hose laying in the water and pulled off just as I was putting my hands on her, DOH!!
Since I am leaving to head back to my Tow Boat for another hitch, I will let the cat out of the bag. Caught 'em all in the Jackson Yacht club harbor, orange jig head with a black chartreuse body was the ticket. Could have loaded the boat if I had more time to fish. See y'all when I get back.
