Gave it a try today. It was a**hole to elbow with folks. I caught some fish and others did to. Nothing special at all. Most were chips and with a couple in the 10 to 12 inch range. I gave my catch to an older gentlemen because neither one of us really had enough for a good mess and he really was yearning for a crappie diner. They wouldnt touch a minnow and we're being caught on a cork and jig of any color under the sun about 3 1/2 ft deep. Everyone said that there has been some hawgs caught and snagged as recently as yesterday afternoon. Multiple 3 1/2lb plus they said. None of which I seen today. You know how fish stories go. Gonna try and get back next weekend and I'm probably not gonna shower this week so I don't have anyone try to sit on my lap like Santa clause as was the case everytime I caught one today.
Did see one fellow that didn't speak a lick of English hook one that was 16 plus. He got it all the way on the rocks and let it get off. That's was the one sighting of a big mama on my part.
Been some Pigs snagged there for sure.
Yes some local named wayne said him and his brother snagged a limit at the end of elbow the Saturday before last that were all in the 3lb range with some pushing 4. I fished with him for while and he seem pretty honest and sure in the hell knew what he was doing catching fish from what I seen.
If Wayne said he done it he did. That fellow can flat out catch fish in that spillway.
It's kinda the vibe I got too.
When you fish somewhere as long as he has you are bound to catch em. Fishing the spillway or the lake the key is knowing your area. Those guys that are there everyday know every rock and snag in it. I've learned a lot from watching those guys the last couple of years. They make it look easy.
Was there again this morning. Nobody doing much. Saw about 10 caught. Nothing to brag about
anyone got any reports in the last couple days of catching any out on the lake. thinking about going sunday but not sure with all this fresh water and more rain on the way
