Default Pulling crank baits at Enid and Grenada

Heading to Enid and Grenada March 8th and was just wondering if pulling crank baits this time of the year will do any good. I am not set up for spider rigging so was wondering what your second preference would be to fish these lakes.

Set up to spider rig. Longlining would be a close second. Dipping a jig or casting a float will work too. Just don't be looking for any docks to shoot.... leave the cranks at home until June.

I live up here in west central Illinois and we have good luck with jointed shad raps fours and fives right before spawning time. I will take a few along just in case.

As G said you never know. if you don't have em you cant try em. Where you from in Illinois? Actually just before spawn has been my best day on cranks.

I live in West Central Illinois. Half way between Quincy and Macomb. Closest big lake is Mark Twain in Mo.

Well lot of folks didnt figure the CM National Championship would be won on cranks in October year before last so "you never know". Mine are in the closet till June, if you are set up to pull cranks then longline, March 8th will most likely be pre-pre-spawn!!!!
    Safe travels and have fun.

We are staying at the Cossar State park are by Enid. Close to the dam. Mark Twain lake in Mo. is another water shed control lake which the water level is all over the place in the spring. It can treat you real good one day and go back the next day with no change in the weather and have very little luck. In the spring if a cold front hits we pull cranks in the deeper water.I think the cold weather moves them out a little deeper.
