Planning on making a trip over to Grenada. Was wondering when was the best time to do so and also looking for any tips as far as baits that work best, what colors and any advice is greatly appreciated.

Hey Pard....Absolutely no expert here, but..... locals and a little experience tell me that the best time to catch bigger fish is Feb/Mar. Spawn usually occurs last of March to early April. Considerations are always fronts moving in and wind, ...did I mention WIND?? These are COE lakes and a one inch rain can move the water a bunch. Stay glued to the board for tips and help on that. Colors...??? Flip a coin. Jig colors can change from morning to afternoon. GENERALLY....black/chartruse...Oh Heck..anythang with chartruse. Donnie's gnats are a personal favorite tipped with a minner. It really depends on their mood and it changes on the hour at times, at least it seems to. Some tip a jig with a minner, some just plain jig, and some fish a naked minner. Personal preference, I guess. Wannabe only catches one fish per trip so he don't get to experiment much. Wouldn't listen to him...
Check with the board as to when the water gets up enough to use different launch ramps. With low water, it can be real sketchy. Till they come in shallow....and who knows when that'll be, most guys spider rig.
I've already told you more than I know....just stay tuned to the board and you'll get more tips, help, and information than you'll need. Good luck.

jimmydee1 is dead on.
Tell'em I'll be there.
Was looking at coming around the 13th of March? Probably single pole fishing if that helps.
As long as the weather is permitting you should be able to get on some fish around then!
That would be a good time to be there as it is Spring Camp weekend
Couldnt pick a better date, you'll get to meet me....if you come that week.

I am also from Alabama and have fished Grenada many times. You will find that like Guntersville there can be lots of open water and when the wind is up it gets pretty rough. In the spring you will need to go up one of the rivers and find the shallower water but beware there are LOTS of stumps where the water starts to get shallow so be careful. Compared to Alabama waters the water at Grenada will be muddy looking all the time. I have found that on jig colors that most anything with chartreuse is good but we have caught some good fish on pink/ chart. and orange/chart. We almost always tip our jigs with minnows and the minnows you buy there will look very big but just go with it because thy work very well.We have always been treated great by the folks around Grenada and really enjoy our trips there. I am planning on going this spring myself but have not picked the dates yet. I have attached a pic of what it looked like last year when we were there. Have a great time and be safe.
