Winter Fishing

fish can be caught, spider rigging seems to be the best this time of year but bet long lining will produce as well, specially on warmer days. Nader will be tuff getting in and out but in a tin boat should be possible, Sardis and Enid shouldn't be a problem getting in and out using the right ramps. Grenada Landing is all that is usable on Grenada, McCurdy is the best bet at Enid, and at Sardis Engineers Point, be careful if its real low at Sardis, at some lower levels the ramp is a little short and you don't want to load up with the trailer off the end of the ramp. Some of these guys that fish Sardis this time of the year can chime in on this, don't think its that low but something to keep in mind.

Check water levels and see how much fall is taking place!Like Don said find the bait and find the fish!Bring a drift sock and a couple 6ft. chains to slow your drift if the wind is bad!Get with a guide on whatever lake you intend to fish cause that's how they make a living, staying on the fish!Just my :twocents!

Best fishing and biggest fish of the year are caught now through spawn. Fish are feeding up, and are fat and sassy.

In my humble opinion I think hiring a guide for a day is the best money you can spend. Tell them your wants (learning) and expectations if any. They will cut the learning curve by mega amounts.

I probably catch 70% of my fish during the colder months. Almost all of the true Giants are caught January-February

Which lakes do you favor in winter? I was thinking of trying the Rez. Don't know that my glass boat will work too good at Grenada, although it's closest. I too haven't done any winter fishing.

Unless the water level is under 195, maybe even 194.5, your glass boat is what you want on Grenada. Once you start getting out you will realize how much more you can fish. She's on the rise after the monsoon we got yesterday.
