Angry Post spawn + long spell high barametric pr = boring day on the lake!

Fish aint biting good in the delta. Nobody is having a good day anywhere. I went to horseshoe,Tchula,MS. Its been 7 years since I'd been there. I've always caught fish at horseshoe. Not this time. The water was clearer than I have ever seen it. I just could not find the fish. I talked to several at the landing who had the same report. Two guys fished all day and caught 4 crappie and kept 2. Those setup for proper trolling and spider rigging better than those single poling and jigging. By better I mean a few 12" crappie. The last week Ive noticed this long spell of high barometric pressure is slowing the bite.
The pressure along with the post spawn has practically ground them to a stop. Fortunately there will be a break in the weather in a couple of days. Towards the end of the week the bite should be much better, HOPEFULLY !

these are learning days, marking things that a map may not sho, finding a dip or as I call em "swag", marking them on the map and making notes. these days pay big dividends down the road and in the future. Told Handi last year when he posted that Nader had whooped him pretty good that day that if he was paying attention to his electronics then the day was a success, may not have seemed that way but it was. this proved to be true cause he came back on several occasions and did well. If it were not for trying to learn new things by watching the tronics I would go home a lot of days way too early.

I'm in between electronics right now. Also didn't have minnows. I haven't used them this year . I have a Marine Metal Power Bubbles 12-volt Air Pump due to arrive tomorrow. I'll be armed with minnows next trip. I would have done better at one of the lakes I've been fishing and am more familiar with. Also using capps and coleman minnow rig would ave helped.

Horseshoe used to be one of my favorite delta lakes............it has gone downhill, like most of the delta lakes. We used to catch tons of fish at horseshoe jigging the shade of the cypress............havent been there in years. Also Bee, but is has fallen on hard times also. Maybe they will eventually come back.

It's been very slow for me in the oxbows as well. Lots of 3-4 fish days, finally found me stacked around a pier. Has taught me to change colors, and try new stuff if you're not having success

I tried so many colors and color combinations I finally drew a blank. Horseshoe has changed so much i didn't know where to begin.

I was down at horseshoe last Sunday for a 50th wedding anniversary. My mom grew up on horseshoe but I've never fished it. They told me that they just sprayed the lake a couple of weeks ago. My mom told me that it was covered in weeds last year but looks a lot better this year.

I did not know it was just sprayed. That makes a difference. Yes it was take a while for that to settle down.
Horseshoe is considered a good mid summer lake,"if it doesn't get muddy from rainor over grown with weeds."

I can't catch a fish without a crappie nibble now. This is the first time I've fished them much at all. It's either live bait and battle gar or nibbles. Hopefully it will come around sooner or later, gonna chase the bream this afternoon
