They ran out of water before they got to Enid and Grenada. Got to have water to do a complete scan.

Just got an email from Johnson Outdoors concerning the new map. Enid and Grenada are not included as one of our members noted. As many units as crappie fishermen buy, you would think we would have a little clout. They listed Elvis Prestley and Flowers lake and several other small lakes. The Flowers Lake that I know is an oxbow on a hunting club South of Tunica. There may be more than one. The new depth finders won't read slower than one and a half mph. meaning you have to read the small screen of your I-Pilot to keep up with your speed. We need some representation form somewhere.

When you say the new depth finders won't read slower than 1.5 mph. Is that the new 1199 and/or the touch screens? Humminbird tell you that? I know my 1198 and 998 read mph just fine.
I have no idea what he is speaking of when he states they wont read below 1.5 mph. With the 998 units if you are going below .6 you need the heading sensor antenna to read the direction your boat is headed. The new 999s and such have this built into the units as they have internal gps rather than using an external antenna.
No, I have an old 788 and a new 788. The old one will read in tenths, the new one will only read above one and a half mph. I called the factory to see if I could pay to get them to recalibrate the new unit and was told it couldn't be done. They said they were all different and there was not any hardware or program that would fix the problem. Numbers appear on the screen but they jump all over the place, constantly changing. I also asked the reps at the Grizzly Jig event and they said I might try this or that but it might not fix the problem. Yall know for a fact that the 998 or the 1198 will read at trolling speeds. For me usually two to six tenths. I know they stopped making the 788 about a year ago. I will buy a 998 to fix the problem if that's the only option I have.
I have yet to hear of the 1.5 thing but considering a 788 is not one of the new units they are producing that sound very odd. All new units are the 9 series rather than the 8 series. I had a 788 I did get rid of though because interference made the speed and depth jump all over the screen. Only unit I ever had this problem with. All of the 8 series birds read in tenths starting at .1 as I have a 998.
I'm going to BPS crappie day Saturday and talk to Jimmie. I know I can't do anything about the new 788 so I'll probably get the 998 DI. If you see any crankbait folks looking for a 788, I know where they can get one.

Thanks Rickie, for the advice. I put it over there. I don't want to buy another unit if I don't have to. Except for that problem, I like the unit. Hopefully someone has the answer.
