Thread: Winter side pulling.

Oldbigun (Joel) is good at what he does, me and him have been pulling cranks with my boat some this summer, have yet to side pull in his boat hey but that time is a coming looking forward to getting moved and settle in before spring and get out and do some side pullin with him

Found out today, buddy of mine is going to fish with me a lot. And teach me all he knows about side pulling. Years ago he did it all the time. And caught a box of fish about every trip. Lot of evening in winter time, he would get off work at 3 pm and have a limit by dark. When he sold his tiller boat he stopped side pulling. Told me he has not done it in 10 years or so. But does not think it will take long to get back in the groove. So guess I hit the lottery on that. As he knows most spots on Yellow, Indian, and Bear Creek to side pull. So learn the spots to do it and when. Plus get to do it more and get comfortable fishing that way.

So watch out Pete's Guide service will be up and running before spring time. Be guiding the grand kids to crappie fishing all they want.

Fraz thanks for the faith. But I'm way behind when it comes to crappie. Now I have times they even find a way to my hook. But not as often as I would like. Plus if it will keep the grand kids out of trouble. Its priceless, one is 15 will be 16 way to soon, 2 are 12, and one is 3. The oldest loves to fish and the boy that is 12 loves it.
But will say with my buddy's help, that will shorten the learning curve for sure.

Buddy there the only people I can beat and brag about it. LOL Plus there special so if they want it Marilyn tells me to do it . HAHA

About got the Lund 1825 Pro Guide Tiller boat rigged to try out Side pulling out of it. Thinking it may be the best boat for this around. Deep boat and lots of V and boat under the water. But use the 961 hull and lay it out with room for three in the floor and still have a front deck. Best of the both worlds this way. Never can tell I may just start guiding. Shoot of some of these that I know can do it. I'm sure I can show them how to not catch fish with the best of them HAHA

Got lots of Hair jigs tied up and waiting on big crappie to eat them up. Plus have some secret rigs fixed up that I think is going to be killer for side pulling or long lining . Used them 2 trips pulling jigs out the back of the boat. And man did they out fish normal jigs and minnows.
I'm sure It will take me a few years to get the hang of side pulling. But sure going to give it a try. So any pointers please let me know. Thinking the next 4 or 5 months should be hot for nice crappie in Yellow creek and Bear Creek.

I get to blame all this on oldbigun. If you get a chance to book a trip with him last spring for a trip. And my wife and I enjoyed fishing this way. And thinking we may hire him again this April. Even if i'm on fish, its nice to sit there and let someone else do all the work. Don't get to do that often. And it was a good . It's worth the price and more.

Shiloh, I have a 2010 proguide with a 175 verado tiller. There is no bouncing you around in these boats and more room than any boat I have fished out of. Not to many boats safer than lunds, very happy with mine.
