    Default Crappie Masters

People, my fellow perch jerkers, Crappie Masters is on a down hill sloop. Mr. Paul Alpers announced he is only gonna be around 3 more years. He is what holds it all together, the new owner doesn't impress me at all, not nearly as friendly as Mr. Paul. It will be a sad day when Paul leaves.

CM didnt get where it is overnite and Mike will grow in the next 3 years. He and his wife worked hard this past weekend to make sure things were as they should be. Everything changes and hopefully for our sport this transition will be a good one as well. Looking forward to fishing with them next year s much as possible and learning as I go, learned alot this last week and also saw how little I kn ow about catching em in a tuff situation.

Good luck to Mike and his wife as they make these changes.

Running something like CM has got to be a very nerve wracking thankless job. Just think of the logistics involved. how many tournament locations, weather conditions, sponsors, local lake rules, state, city and county guvment b.s.has a guy got to put up with? not to even mention the ever so fragile egos of every angler who thinks he's gonna be the next Walley Marshall that this guy has to deal with. I haven't fished with CM in several years, some things back then needed changing, I'm sure their are some things now that can be improved upon. Give the new guy a chance.

I have to disagree with the down hill. Mike and Suzette are very capable and I feel will take CrappieMasters to a new level not before possible. Mike is a very friendly guy, personally he's been more friendly to me than Paul.

I couldn't have asked for anyone to be more friendly or helpful than Mike and Suzette Valentine were before and during this last tournament. I was able to get in touch with him very easily during fishing hours for clarification on a couple of things and he was extremely helpful. They are capable of taking this organization to the next level and I feel they will do so.

I have fished over 200 professional tournaments and 2 of them have been Crappie Master events. Mike has been incredibly professional and to me it appears will be more than capable to not only continue running a top notch tournament circuit like Paul Alpers had - with both of them "digging in" - the CM should do nothing but get bigger and better. To my understanding, Paul is on for three years, and who knows, maybe at the end of it he will sign on for another 3 year contract - after all - he has a passion for the sport of competitive crappie fishing and loves all of the people and the fish (I've never seen someone who can so-effortlessly call a weight on the fly like Paul - the man's amazing).

Also - the CM staff (including Mike's wife Suzette) is incredibly friendly, hard-working and professional. Let's all follow their example and join in to assist them with growing the circuit and the sport we love.

They said the same thing when I gave up the FJs.

    Phooey. CM will be fine.

I'm coming for you Tommy. I had you dead to rights at Grenada and then the sun got in my eyes. Be scared.
