Thread: Pressure is on me to deliver

I think they slowed down everyewhere....the same thing is happening to me at enid....a world of difference between now and a few weeks ago.

Just go fishing and enjoy the time on the water, fesh are a bonus. Role em up a little and move in shallow, never know. If the water cools off any more I am fixxen to buy some minners!!!

Good advice ! Getting to the bonus round would be nice though.

Agreed and I understand the pressure. Had some guys come down last spring, 5 inches of rain on Thursday and we were on the water at daylight he next morning. Finally caught a fesh and managed to catch a fair mess but it sure had me in knots. Fishing is fishing, not catching but I sure do like to catch em.

I understand the pressure you guides are under. I lived in Portland Or. from 86-02. A part time guide took me under his wing at work. He took me with him on a spring chinook trip on the columbia river with 2 clients. I hooked a springer and handed it off to a client. Then hooked another and handed it off to the other client.

The guide told me after the trip that he didn't expect me to do that but he sure was glad I did. He taught me several fisheries in the following years. Being able to run my on boat in those waters and keeping everyone in my boat safe and mostly catching fish is a high point in my life. I'm so glad to have a boat again after 20 years. Sardis might not be the mouth of the columbia river or the bar at tillimook bay but things can change in a hurry and you better have your head up.

To this day I get more joy out of putting people on the fish than catching one myself.

Instead of trolling from one of the few honey holes I know on sardis, I think I will reel up and motor to another. A couple of weeks ago I could troll and pick some up on the way. Not so much anymore.

I have emailed nice limits of crappie a few weeks ago that I can't for the life of me produce the last four times out.

Any suggestions ?

Still doing the routine pretty much as when I was doing good.

I always troll from one spot to the next when crankin at Sardis since I'm pulling at 1.6 to 2.0 mph (unless I'm changing from south side to north side or vice versa). Yesterday we were trolling from one "honey hole" to another "honey hole". On the journey we picked up 9 keepers in about 20 minutes out of an area I would not have chosen to fish. Surprised us and turned a mediocre fishing day into a good one. Left with a double limit about an hour later.

Thanks for the information. Sounds like the warmer weather may have put things back as they were a few weeks ago. ds

Hope you're right, ds, but from my pespective the crappie are getting thinned out at Sardis. We're having more trouble finding concentraions of them and when we do find them there seems to be less of them hanging out together.
