I've only fished Okatibbee for a few years but it seems to me I'm catching bigger fish the last couple of years. Do you guys think this is because they eliminated the 9 inch minimum and there is less competition for forage or am I just imagining things. It may also be due to the fact that I am pulling cranks more often and that is why I'm catching bigger fish.
Thanks dad for teaching me to love crappie fishing!!
I really don't know, seeing the same thing with our fish, but talked to the old retired lake manager, Bill Pennington, a while back and he seems to think one of the big factors was 4 years of low water. Allowing a lot of plant growth along the banks which was one of my thoughts too. Don't know enough about minimum size effects to have an opinion on that. Pulling cranks may increase your size but we catch plenty of dinks that way too.
