Mine died shortly after putting the fish in. pressure or temp change too much?? Gonna toss them in the cooler from now on.
Crappie bite twice a day. 15 minutes before I get there and 10 minutes after I leave.

They get the bends from coming up too fast. Plus, the water in the livewell is a tad warm. Cooler is always best bet this time of year.

I always use a cooler anytime after April, sometimes before depending on the temps.

Way to hot for them in the live well. Like sticking your finger in boiling water.

What about putting ice in the live well? Should keep it cooler than lake water right?
Give a man a fish and feed him for a day.
Teach a man to fish and he'll sit in a boat and drink beer all day!

If you put ice in your live well I suggest putting in a plastic bottle with the cap on and freezeing it. Just putting in ice when it melts the chlorine could kill the fish. Just a thought.
I have spent most my life fishing........the rest I wasted.

Yeah, but I'd still stay with the cooler. You'll spend more time monitoring the livewell temp and adding ice etc than fishin....NOTHIN shud get in the way of ur fishin!!!

IF YOUR catchin them 15-25 feet deep on cranks the stress from being drug to the surface real quick will probably do em in regardless of water temp in your wet well...

I use a livewell until i get to 5 fish and then they all start going into the cooler. I just have a gravity fed livewell so i'm pretty sure my problems are more related to water temp.
