Question on GPS speed between Hummingbird 798 and Minn Kota Terrova

Just wondered why the difference in speed between my Minn Kota Terrova trolling motor and my Hummingbird 798 while pulling cranks or spider rigging? The Hummingbird jumps around a lot more and I wonder if it's because of a faster sampling rate on the Hummingbird. Because of that I rely on my Terrova. Anyone notice anything different?

I am running Lowance stuff and get no readings under .5 when spider rigging so I rely totally on the Ipilot. Pulling cranks they seem to be real close but I use the speed lock 99% of the time when pulling, only time I dont is in a quick turn. Turn the speed lock off and speed up to 2.5 and turn her around and then slow back down as the lines come back in place.

On 998 and hand held they run right together. Never seen any difference. You have external antenna or using the built in on 798?

mine match about 50% of the time. I rely on the ipilot remote the most. have 788 upfront with internal gps--the only time they really match is when the water is dead calm.

My ipilot and hds speeds do not match often. For whatever reason I feel like the ipilot is more often correct.

I have a 798 and and 1198, and a handheld garmin and all of them show the same speeds as the ipilot

I have the same issues with my HB596. If the Pilot shows a consistent speed of 1, then the HB will jump all around from .7 - 1.3 and anywhere in between. Couldn't tell you why. I trust the ipilots speed WAY over the HB because I know I am not lunging around. I'm sure I'd feel that.
