    Default 10 inch at sardis?

The lake has finally caught up with the 12 inch rule and now they want to go back to 10 inches for a one year trial period and see how it affects the lake. With the 15 limit per person at 10 inches everyone will have a limit in about 90 minutes. If I was a crappie guide I would be so excited I would book 4 trips a day. They would be taking numbers at the boat ramp. There will be ALOT of fishermen at sardis this year without a doubt. Now everyone that comes down gets a limit. Going to be one interesting year can't wait to see what there survey finds out. My Geuss it's going to take a couple years to catch those over 10 inch fish until your going to have a problem with finding 10 inch fish. Last few years sardis has had a decline in fishermen due to finding over 12 inch fish. With that said my opinion is leave the 12 inch in place make it 15 on the limit and 30 per boat. I have feed my family of 6 on 15 crappie many times with leftovers. Also your allowed to have 7 limits on your possesion in travel per person. That should be changed to 2 limits per person. The one good thing I see that will help the crappie is that now when you catch one trolling and as many of us have done is now when you put one back in the water that was too small to keep and you know it's going to die because his gills are bleeding like a stuck hog he will become a keeper and not a waste. So in the future if they want to change trolling rules they can start with barbless hooks. Just my opinion on the new changes to come this march for sardis.

Daily boat limit kinda does away with that theory.

Look at it this way. With the 10 inch rule, even me and WB could catch a limit LOL

Have you fished Sardis lately??? It's a different lake than last spring. I haven't caught 15 shorts in any one trip the last 4 months. And yes I fished it last spring when u would catch 100 to 200 a day. U folks that think limits are going to be automatic now are fooling yourselves.

Instead of booking one trip a day you could book 4 three hour trips a day and just about limit out if the new rules go in to place. A lot of guides b

You have until February 15th to send your ideas on how things should be done the to Executive Director. Really won't do much good in here. We can't help. Here's the link to what was covered in a recent meeting on the subject.

A lot of guides book two half day trips. The last time I fished sardis was in November. Me and the wife caught 52 and kept 40 fished from 10 to 4. I have been looking at those tailgate pictures of limits the month of December and I've seen a few nice ones in January. The last 3 years about 90 percent of the time iam catching 100 to 130 a day. Going home with 8-12 had fun everytime. So there are tons of crappie left in the lake. So if you got a brain and a heartbeat and keep your baited hook in water you will get your limit everyday. I could take 15 yoyos put minnows on them and I bet you could just about get your limit. Long as the bass and catfish stay away. Like I said its going to be interesting. Can't wait to wet a hook. By the way were still eating on those 40 we caught.

I got a brain and a heartbeat and I only caught a limit twice last fall. Guess I was doing something wrong though maybe I was just a little short in the leg department or maybe I just suck!

What iam trying to say handi is that anything over 10 inch and a limit of 15 is going to be very easy now. I've fished sardis for 10 years now and live 5 miles from hurricane boat ramp. I go whenever I can. Whatever rules they make iam game. The guys in charge of these rules remind me a lot of my company's CEO can't seem to make up there minds. We want to go after big business for awhile now let's go after small business for awhile. Same with crappie size. Going back to my main reason for this thread is that sardis has finally got to the point of producing fish over 12 now and they want to go back. I say leave those 10-12 inch fish alone and let them spawn its working out great.

I'm just giving you a hard time..... I do think more people will possibly catch limits but I just think it will be a little harder than some folks think. After talking with several folks I to wish they would stay at a 12 inch limit. Might be a couple of lean years coming up due to poor spawns but all lakes go through cycles. It actually wouldn't hurt my feelings if they went to a 10 fish/12 inch limit for the next year or two.
