They are draining Lake Lamar Bruce to re-build the dam. The dam is very old and has deteriorated to where they were afraid that it might break. They will close the lake down for two or three years....I sure do hate as I love to fish there.

I really like the lake also. I've caught some decent eater sized Crappie and Bream this Summer. Will they totally drain the lake and kill the fish?

They said on TV that they were going to get all the fish out that they could and move them to another lake ( they did not say where). The article in the Tupelo paper said it would be closed for two to three years.

They just finished rebuilding the dam at Big Bear Creek this spring. Course they didn't completely drain the lake but it was down to just creek size for a couple years. The fishing is better there than its been in years now. It let lots of brush and stuff grow up around the old water line

per MDWFP website, they are suspending all size and creel limits on Lake Lamar Bruce. So catch 'em all before they go out the pipe or end up on dry land.
