As long as you have want-to you cancertainly pull it off. However on the down side of things, chotard is not going to be the optimal lake this weekend. If you want to fish that area I wouldgo to eagle.

Hello All,
Thanks in advance for all your help. I've been a bass fisherman my whole life. I never had anybody introduce me to crappie fishing so I have taken it upon myself to learn. I'm headed to Chotard this weekend and have alot of questions. Here are my top 3 with a kicker.
1. Is a spider-rig neccesary? (All my research indicates a distinct advantage for February fishing)
2. What is the most versatile crappie rig? (If you could only buy 3-4 setups what would they be?)
3. What basic baits/jigs do I need in my crappie arsenal?
4. Do I have a chance at pulling this off?
I have alot of want-to and little knowledge so I appreciate your feedback. If you see "that idiot" in a white triton this weekend have mercy on me cuz I'll be giving it hell.

I appreciate the heads up...with that being said should I even head that way? I keep my boat about 2 minutes from Tommys at the Rez. Should I just start there? Could you tell me why Eagle over Chotard and why not Chotard so I could better understand?
Got ya...read an article by Paul Johnson in MS Game and Fish about Chotard and the rise and fall of the MS. Thanks for the feedback.
I have caught fish at chotard with the river rising, but right now it is very high and rising not a good combo. When the river is in the 24 feet range and rising you can still do ok
